Sewing Training Program for remote villages.
Phalode, Savarli and Pimpri are villages near Bhimashankar. This is a very high rainfall area. After the rains, the women in the village spent a lot of time and energy getting water. Rotary club of Pune Metro has been developing watershed giving the villages easy access to water. This has freed women from the labours of collecting water for their daly needs.
Rotary Club of Pune metro under their “Happy Village” project, decided to give these women training on sewing skills enabling them employment and entrepreneur opportunities. With this in mind training was started for a group of 17 women. Rotary club of Metro provided sewing machines and also dedicated trainers for this program. All the material like the needles, scissors, thread and cloth were provided to this group. During training they make runners,tablecloth and coasters from used cloth.
After the training is complete, the club will work towards connecting them to the market in the city enabling them to sell their products.
