Awakened Citizen Program
Rotary Club of Pune Metro and
Vivekananda Institute of Values (VIVA) offer
Foundation of Citizenship Program (FCP)
A Value Education Program for Middle- School Students Since 2019, Rotary Club of Pune Metro (RCPM) has been working on ‘Curriculum of Joy project’ for the school students to provide them joyful experience through education and create the foundation to learn the values in life.
For this purpose, our Rotary Club has joined hands with the Vivekanand Institute of Values (VIVA) and now offers you their established flagship program titled ‘Foundation of Citizenship Program’ (FCP)
One of the major problems confronting us today is that children seem to be getting stressed and confused coming out of schools. They are not armed with the right tools to face real-life problems and make the right choices.
That is where FCP comes into focus. It is the next version (2.0) of VIVA’s flagship value education program titled ‘The Awakened Citizen Program (ACP)’.
The purpose of the FCP is to develop our children into responsible citizens who can serve the community, society & nation.
Program Highlights:
• It focuses on character building & development in teenagers.
• It enables high-school students to discover their own potential and capabilities.
• It is designed in a discussion-oriented manner, where the teenager analyse various explorations or real-life situations. The students think, discuss to develop various options and discover the consequences of various choices they can make. In turn, they get armed with a decision-making framework for life.
• The program supports the teenagers to build self-esteem (Atmashraddha – faith in oneself) and this power can be put to use in everyday situation.
• The program is developed in such a way that it aligns with National Education Policy, 2020.
• FCP program is designed and developed with knowledge partner – Illumine Knowledge Resources.
• It is secular program and focus is only on character building
Foundation of Citizenship Program (FCP) is organized in 3 parts spread over 16 modules, each 40 min to 1 hour long discovery sessions. Each session focuses on developing one ‘core building block’ in the journey to become awakened citizens.
a) Strengthen Atmashraddha
b) Discover Inner Possibilities –
c) Adopt Awakening Practices
Few of the topics are – Be heroic, Be truth speaker, expand oneself, live in harmony, seek perfection, etc.
HOW CAN YOU ADOPT THE PROGRAM
• As a part of this process, school must nominate teachers to participate in a one-day Facilitator’s Training Workshop, which can be conducted offline or on-line as suited to school, VIVA trainers & Rotary Club)s_. To ensure the program’s effectiveness and optimal implementation, we recommend at least two teachers from the school, preferably one teacher per division of 6th/ 7th/ 8th / 9th standard.
• The dates for training workshops will be intimated to schools in advance. After training, each school will be provided two sets of kits (in English or Hindi depending on their choice). Schools will also be given access to the digital content of the program.
• In an academic year, the schools will need to allot 16 periods of 40-45 minutes each in the timetable for each class (6, 7, 8 or 9 or parallelly in all four standards).
• VIVA Master Trainers and Resource Persons will provide training and continuous support to the school to conduct the program. Schools are requested to extend cooperation to conduct the assessment survey for the program from time to time.
Recent status of FCP:
The program is running in over 6000 schools from several states and state board schools all over India. To name few – Delhi NCR, MP, WB, TN, Kerala, AP, UP, Maharashtra ….Over 51000 teachers have been trained for the program. CBSE has endorsed the program for its affiliated schools.
