Sri Shivray – MBA Finance, by Dr Ajit Apte.

It was on an unique topic called Sri Shivray – MBA Finance by Dr Ajit Apte.

Each one of us has a special place for Shri Shivaji Maharaj in our minds. Hence the topic was much more interesting as it involved financial planning skills used then in tune with modern times today.

About 100 viewers experienced this interesting online meeting. Enthusiastic response by Rotarians and family members was observed. Introduction of the speaker was given by Ann Vaidehi Jog.and vote of thanks by Ann Madhavi Gandhi.

Summary :
Dr Apte threw light on how Shri Shivaji Maharaj was a Global Leader .His management skills, his futuristic approach and out of the box thinking made him a great king and the greatest leader.
British looked at him as a great threat. Dr Apte gave insights into how Maharaj built finances with microlevel working with examples like Sindhudurga and Jinji fort. As an able finance administrator, Shri Shivaji Maharaj understood the importance of trade and introduced merchant navy capabilities. Shri Shivaji Maharaj used his allround futuristic approach to create import substitute.
For example, Sangameshwari boats which defeated British Navy were developed and perfected indigeneously only in twenty years. With various such examples Dr.Apte took us on tour with how Shri Shivaji Maharaj managed money by maximum utilization of resources be it human , horses,or forts like Sindhudurga ,Jinji and Ganimi kava. Shri Shivaji Maharaj with his economic strategies managed to defeat his enemies.
Many more such examples were very nicely illustrated by Dr Apte. He also explained how Shri Shivaji Maharaj used 5 M’s of MBA programs to build a true Swaraj.
The one-of-a- kind lecture ended in question and answers with the members.
